Helsinki and Suomenlinna Maritime Fortress

Today we travelled by ferry boat to a group of islands called Suomenlinna. These house a maritime fortress which dates back to the 1700's. The fortress was big and full of disarmed cannons. The fortress has turreted walls which are very thick and tall. We visited a submarine which was used in the war with Russia. (Russia were on our side then). Part of the fortress was destroyed during the Crimean war. We visited the Crimean peninsula during our cruise to the Ukraine. Helsinki is a nice city full of old buildings and cobbled streets. I find cobbled streets really hard to walk on. Lots of people ride bikes here - must be rough on those streets.
